Move-In Information

Welcome to University Housing at Clayton State University!  We are excited for you to Live Like a Laker!

Please read the following information carefully so that you will be off to a smooth start upon arrival.

Room Assignment, Move-in Date, and Check-in: If you completed your housing application and contract by the Deadline, your room assignment will be available through your housing portal prior to your move-in date. Check-in is offered on the dates and times specified on that web page and everyone is welcome throughout the day. Please note that, while we make every effort to maintain current room and suitemate assignments, it is occasionally necessary to make adjustments based on the required accommodations of some students.


Laker Village Summer Semester Move-in: Check Your Email for Your Scheduled Move In Appointment.

You MUST be registered for summer classes and have your account balance paid in full (or a Nelnet Payment Plan in place for the remaining balance) in order to complete your room check-in process. IMPORTANT FEE PAYMENT INFO

Laker Village drive-thru check-ins are starting at Gate 5 of the Laker Village apartment entrance. Signs and staff will be out to aid in guiding traffic in the correct direction. Please present your Laker ID to the staff at the check-in area to receive your access to your room assignment. After receiving your keys, you will then proceed to your apartment and room location to move in. You should be greeted by a member of the Resident Assistant team to verify your room assignment and make sure you are settling in comfortably. It is recommended that you bring your own carts/hand trucks if you feel this is necessary.


Helpful tips for Move-In Day:

  1. Bring your Laker Card with you for verification to pick up your keys.
  2. Make sure all University fees are paid. You will not be permitted to move in if there is a balance on your account (or if a NelNet Payment Plan is not in place, if applicable).

Building/Floor Meetings

All residents are required to attend a mandatory welcome and orientation meeting via Microsoft Teams. Refer to Housing Newsletter in student email and social media pages for registration link.

Room Condition Report (RCR)

At your time of check-in, you will be given a room condition report form. This form documents the condition of your room at move-in. You will have the opportunity to review, amend, and then sign this form during the check-in process. Return your RCR to the University Housing Office within 24 hours of move-in. If the RCR is not returned, we will assume that everything in your assignment was satisfactory and update your housing file as such.

Personal Property/Liability Insurance

Please be reminded that University Housing is not responsible for any damage to your personal property or that which may be caused to the premises by you or a guest. If you are not already covered under a parent’s homeowner’s policy, you are strongly encouraged to obtain renter’s insurance to protect your personal property and, if necessary, provide emergency accommodations. Renters’ insurance is inexpensive and great protection to have!
